    What is Your Path? Other
About Me Many of us on the Goddess path have felt slightly out of step with the people around us or the religions in which we were raised. Stellaluna Circle is a place where our differences are praised and accepted. A place where those of us exploring our spirituality and learning what it is to be a Witch can be accepted for who we are and for our unique, singular talents. While Stellaluna is a Goddess worshipping coven and an all women's coven, we do not adhere to strict dogma. All traditions and teachings offer some wisdom, so creating our rituals and degrees from a variety of sources enables us to continue learning and growing. To that end, Stellaluna is a teaching coven, offering degrees and classes to those who are dedicated to the Goddess and following the path of the witch. With the theory that those who participate learn more readily than those who watch, Stellaluna meets once a week for learning meetings or for ritual, with every full moon being a ritual date with active participation from its members. Stellaluna Circle is currently opening our hearts and doors to new students. If you are interested or would like more information, please see our website, e-mail us, or contact us here on Covenspace. Belated Retreat Post

    Friday, July 4, 2008, 09:37 PM [General]

So, I am tardy in posting about the retreat.  I took a few days to recuperate, and those few days turned into a few weeks.  Oops!  However, I have to say, it was....

    A Great Experience!

I really believe this was the best year yet!  A lot of hands-on activities, great companionship, open sharing, cool weather, good food, and great energy combined with a wild thunderstorm (minus the rain!) raging overhead during our main ritual made this year's retreat a wonderful experience!

    Check back later for pictures!

    Welcoming the Sun

    Saturday, December 29, 2007, 03:56 PM [General]

Stellaluna Circle's Yule Celebration was beautiful and enLIGHTening!  :)

We celebrated the night, but then welcomed the birth of the Sun by following the story of Amaterasu, the Japanese Sun Goddess, as she retreated into a cave to escape the hurts of life, but then returned her light to the world when she saw her beauty and unique gifts reflected in a mirror.  Each woman in circle took her turn to view her own gifts in a mirror and then shared the gifts that each other member reflects out into the world as her own light.

We also each took some time to admire the adorable, pink Stellaluna Yule tree, decorated with lace, pink ribbons, pink glass balls, and pink and silver pentagram ornaments, topped with a spiral star.  Each ornament bore a blessing for the New Year, and each member selected one blessing from the tree to be a mantra and a guiding star for 2008.

Then, of course, there was lots of good food!

We look forward to the blessings that 2008 will bring to Stellaluna Circle!

Also, we will be setting our schedule for the year in a planning meeting in a few weeks.  If you are interested in open events, after this date the calender will be posted to our web site.  Please check our Events page after the middle of January to see our schedule!

     Blessed Be!

Witchcraft (from Old English wiccecræft "sorcery, necromancy"), in various historical, anthropological, religious and mythological contexts, is the use of certain kinds of supernatural or magical powers.
A witch (from Old English masculine wicca, feminine wicce, see Witch (etymology)) is a practitioner of witchcraft. The Online Etymology Dictionary states a "possible connection to Gothic weihs "holy" and Ger. weihan "consecrate," and writes, "the priests of a suppressed religion naturally become magicians to its successors or opponents."Witchcraft still exists in a number of belief systems, and indeed there are many today who self-identify with the term "witch".

Witches are traditionally stereotyped as being female, however their male equivalents were also often referred to as witches .
Probably the most obvious characteristic of a witch was the ability to cast a spell, a "spell" being the word used to signify the means employed to accomplish a magical action. A spell could consist of a set of words, a formula or verse, or a ritual action, or any combination of these. Spells traditionally were cast by many methods, such as by the inscription of runes or sigils on an object to give it magical powers, by the immolation or binding of a wax or clay image (poppet) of a person to effect him or her magically, by the recitation of incantations, by the performance of physical rituals, by the employment of magical herbs as amulets or potions, by gazing at mirrors, swords or other specula (scrying) for purposes of divination, and by many others means.
